The Committee elects a Chairperson, Associate Chair, Vice-Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer every two years at its Re-Organizational meeting. A Convention is held once a year for the purposes of endorsing candidates and other business that may come before it. The SCDC has an Executive Committee comprised of the Chairs from each Town, the officers of the Committee, elected County officials along with members selected by the Chair.Being a Committee Member is participation in the Democratic Party at its most grass-roots level. The Sullivan County Democratic Committee&nbsp;is the official Democratic Committee in Sullivan County, New York. Our mission is to inspire and encourage the greatest participation in the affairs of the Party, to insure the continuing success of the Party and to elect Democratic candidates to provide the best possible responsible government for the people of Sullivan County, its towns and the State of New York.

The Sullivan County Democratic Committee has unanimously endorsed Kathleen Lara for the position of Sullivan County Treasurer. “Her experience as Deputy Treasurer over the last ten years has eminently qualified her for the position of Treasurer” said Sullivan County Democratic Chair Anne Hart. Kathleen Lara explains that “the role of Treasurer is one that demands expertise, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of both the community and the law.”&nbsp; If elected Treasurer I will continue to maintain an office that is efficient, approachable, and transparent—always focused on serving the people of this community.”

<h2>Thinking of Running for Office?</h2>The Sullivan County Democratic Committee wants to help!There are many great resources available to help guide your decision to run and to campaign successfully.We’ve done the legwork for you, and will point you in the right direction through an index of online resources and a network of local mentors who are former and current officeholders, candidates, and experienced campaigners.&nbsp;&nbsp;We’ll help you start the process, beginning with how to seek endorsement from your local Democratic Committee.Before you start, consider these questions.&nbsp; Knowing the answers and having a clear message are the first steps toward success.1.) Why are you running?&nbsp; Is there a problem you want to solve?&nbsp; Are you drawn to public service?&nbsp; What can you offer to voters? What makes YOU different from other candidates?&nbsp; What are the top three issues or values in your community on which your platform will be based?&nbsp;2.) Do you have the time to spend on running a winning campaign?&nbsp; Do you have the support of your immediate family? A lasting candidate spends time getting to know the voters and learning about their concerns by attending local meetings and events, and importantly through one-on-one contact with voters.&nbsp; If elected, great officials dedicate large amounts of time to addressing residents’ concerns, learning more about dealing with issues that affect their community, and working to solve problems.&nbsp; Great candidates spend the time earning the trust and respect of voters.&nbsp; Great elected officials never stop doing the same.3.)
